Skoda Octavia Vrs MK1

Recommended Posts

A remap is probably the best way to gain a lot of power for not a lot of money on the Octavia. Intake and exhaust mods can be combined with the remap to give a little bit more power.

There are cheaper things which are even more worthwhile, such as a dogbone mount or a rear ARB (do a search in this forum). These won't improve the power but make the handling a lot nicer.

HTH :)

remap is best bang for buck. but if your budget is tight then a cat-back exhaust and performance air filter will give you some gain.

turbo back system would be better, but the extra cost of the sports cat might put you off that one.

dont waste your money on fancy hoses and pipes, save for something 'real'.

If you use the search button you will find this has been asked, and answered many times before.

First thing should be brakes and suspension, then you can really use what you already have under the bonnet.

A Custom remap from a reputable tuner, (by custom I mean one tweaked to suit your car & checked on a rolling road) A free flowing exhaust will help a bit but makes the car noticably noisier, if doing a zorst or any other engine mods do them BEFORE the remap

Other essential IMO is some decent DOT 5.1 brake fluid & better pads on the front.

If moneys tight make sure you have no other impending maintenace problems looming. Also a remap puts more load on the clutch, if yours has done a few miles a map might bring an earlier than planned demise

As others have said a few hours with the search facility on Briskoda will give many more views.

DONT post whos map is best, it always starts a long debate, everyone has their favourites, many of the good tuners are Site sponsors so worth a look. Best tip is to find someone you feel happy with & whos not toooooooo far away, makes going back to sort niggles should there be any easier.

Enjoy the Skoda :)
