Drilling front grill

Featured Replies

hi,

been thinking about getting one of the ebay CAI kits, i understand that it relocates the filter down by the wheelarch, but would drilling out the bumper insert grill piece give any benefit at all? it would only be a temporary fix until i get round to getting hold of some milotek grills

thanks:thumbup:

It would let more dust stick to the already carp filter.

yeah i cleaned out my air box at the weekend and there was quite alot of grit in the bottom from all the winter driving, surprised me considering i have the standard intake

You should check out the TIP after an ebay CAI filter has been on for 6 months

sounds like a completely stupid, chavvy and pikey mod, but ive heard in the past that stretching a pair of tights over the filter man act as another water/dust barrier maybe helping keep the maf etc clean?

sounds a bit crap to be true

Or even replacing the ebay one with a decent one would help. The actual intake pipe is fine its just the filter....reminds me will have to sell mine soon. Lol

yeah sorry i forgot to also put that i will be replacing the ebay filter when money allows, really want a jabbasport 1 but thats a whole load of cash i dont have at the moment

Mark,

You'll find alot of people have either dremel'd the grill (for neatness) or just drilled lots of holes. It will help get more air to any CAI you choose that sits in the bottom of the bumper, but as has been said, will increase dust and dirt around the filter so you'll have to clean it more often. The Millotec grills are open / meshed anyway so go ahead and drill the OE one to your hearts content.
