As the classic only has one bulb in the overhead interior light, do any of the next models up have map lights on either side of the main bulb, if so could you just swap the whole unit over

Yes I also have one in the rear of the roof.

I could do with a bit more light on my side and I will be wiring the front and rear so that I can turn them both on at once from the front switch

If this can be done I will also swap the bulbs over to this type

Yes i have the map lights at front also.Iam also going to wire front and rear interior lights so they all come by the switch at front but haven,t had the time to do it yet.

My elegance has two interior lights.

One at the front just above the rear view mirror, this has a centre door activated light and two map lights.

There is also anothe rdoor activated light above the rear seat.

Pop along to your local dealer and pretend to be after a new car and have a look!

Get one from the breaker's yard. Old Passat, Golf mk4 or 5, Leon, Superb, Octi1, all of them fit, the buttons just look a bit different on some of them, and the mk5 Golf and Superb may have cat vision LEDs. Those with this function won't fit the plug, but they are easy to wire in.

To wire the front and back lights together just solder a wire leading from the + downstream of the front one's switch to the door operated + of the rear one. You could also put in a diode on the door +, but that probably won't be necessary.

Went to the scrappy today and got the front light with the extra map reading bulbs on the sides works a treat, noticed though that the one i took off was starting to melt the plastic directly above the bullet bulb

I also asked the owner as I know him well if he had any octys MK2s in as I want a set of leather seats he said yes the estate elegance, but was waiting for it to clear but would keep them for me, and to check them out so i did they are black well padded and dont have that daft plastic pocket on the outside of the seat, they are also slightly wider and have the lumber support that I miss and a full range of movement wont bother with the door cards as mine are black, and dont like the imitation plastic wood effect anyway

There weren't any Superbs being scrapped were there? Would like to try the Catvision front light in the Fabia, but need a sunroof model which could well be quite rare...

I've got one of THESE in my Octavia. They obviously fit a car without a sunroof and require some wire modding.

Yeah, know about the W8 lights, and that they're available in sunroof type as well. But I'm particularly interested in the Superb one because it's available in black and will have green lighting for the general buttons.

The W8 ones are about £35 for non-sunroof and £50-ish for the sunroof model.
