Just checking

Featured Replies

My dealer told me when i picked the Fab up that they had serviced it which included an oil change.

Whilst checking my dipstick today I noticed the oil was pitch black..

Is this normal for newly changed oil in a diesel engine or have they told me porkies?

Cheers

yes it only takes a few minuets to turn black

if you remove the dipstick and rub it betwene your finger and thumb you will get a feel for fresh oil (imposible to describe) and bad oil

also bad or overheated oil has an unusual smell

Ah well thats better :)

The oil felt very... well oiley :D not gritty.

I will stop worrying now

yes its totally normal for diesel engines.

i think its a reason for detergent addetives in oil.

I think its just the ammount of carbon in the diesel engine.

Mine is normally like this after the drive home from the service.

I had my vrs in for its 40k service the other day and wondered if anyone knew what brand/grade oil skoda dealers use as Id like to buy some as a top up

I have the item code of the oil used if that would be any help ??
