does anyone have any opinions about the gardX (like supaguard) products. I am thinking of getting it on the new car when it arrives and dealer has done a good price. I have looked at the marketing blurb and it all seems to make sense. covers the inside as well. opinions / experiences please....

:thumbup:Hi There, I had GardX done on my previous car, and it was really good! I didn't have to polish the car once! I am now looking at getting it done to my current car (The dealer I bought it from only had Dimondbrite)

Hmm external treatment isn't so great and the internal I can't comment on.

Not cheap - suppose its OK if you are lazy, but would rather use good products and car care techniques (two bucket washing etc) to look after the car myself.

Strange first post from Adrian. Hope your not a GardX salesman!

not lazy just busy !!! life is too short to wash your car for 2 hrs every weekend . i would rather go away with the kids and the caravan !!

it is supposed to be better than polish not just easier.

i am getting it for a very good price so i reckon its worth it. i will help inside as i have ordered ivory leather (although i was sensible and wne tfor black carpets !!)

Yes a very strange post ;)

If you ever get your car cleaned by one of these valet people who claim to polish your car they generally use a polish that will remove the external coating.

From a car I've seen it wasn't doing a very good job and a couple of coats of sealant provided better protection, never mind with wax on top.

It seemed to have little effect on bird muck damaging the paint too.

You're better off spending the £200 they want on getting a guy to give the car a proper polish wax and show you how to wash properly and then get it topped up yearly IMHO

I can only offer opinion based upon what I've read around the internet in the process of deciding about it for my own order. With that disclaimer, most of those who have used GardX seem to like it, but agree that paying ~£200-£300 at the dealer's end is a rip-off when you can get the kit on ebay for ~£30-£50 and apply it yourself (assuming you're comfortable with the process).

Ah!! Now the plot gets interesting :)

Well if you are getting a reasonable price that justifies not spending few hours in DIY, then sure go ahead.

I would definitely be interested if I could get a reasonable quote :D

You can diy it for a lot less, I used to do it myself professionally myself, all it consists of is a wax for the body and a spray for the interior, quite simple to do, wash car and polish it with the sealer wax, inside it's a simple case of get an atomiser fill it with the stain guard and spray liberally, leave to dry and it's done, stinks for a while mind you.

I highly recommend Diamondbrite, I had it done on my first superb by the dealer and everytime you washed and dried it it looks as though you had spent half a day waxing and polishing it. I did it myself on my current superb, and i will be doing it again when i take delivery of my Mk 2 superb at the end of this month. The dealer charged £198.00 just to do the bodywork and gave me a 5 year guarantee. When i bought my current superb i went onto Jewelultra own site and ordered one 500ml bottles of Protective Sealant Glaze for £16.87 incl p&p.

wrong information

Have had various treatments - Guardx/Diamondbrite/Autosmart/Supaguard, on my last eight Skodas, they all do a similar job. I can vouch that the interior protection really does work, if your lazy like me, then the outside protection does give a good finish after washing the car without the hard graft of polishing.

But why pay any money, I have never paid a penny for it, and always ask for it as part of the deal, along with the usual tank of diesel/mats/mudguards/sill protectors/headlamp protectors. Tell the stealer to throw it in as part of the deal walk or you will walk away, I am sure he will give it to you. :D

i cant ask for anymore ! i am already getting a good deal. i think the price i am paying is very good . whilst the gardx might show on the invoice i reckon i am effectively getting it for free :)

also it would be unfare to refer to him as a stealer - i know that term is applicable in some cases but certainly not with james !!

Is there any place other than the dealers where one can get GardX done?

I had the Diamondbrite process applied to my current Mk1 Superb. It proved so successful I am having it applied to my New One prior to taking delivery. :)
