My Boot won't shut!!!!!

Featured Replies

I slam it down and it just bounces! The tailgate isn't in the closed position - it seems to be the striking plate not catching.

It's the one that you can open from inside or outside the car (fabia comfort x-reg)

I had a look at there's about 3 plates and cables. Seems a bit complicated to me - but I'd def say that it don't look right!!! The bits all seem to be independent of each other....

Can anyone post a pic of what the striking plate should look like??

Thanks.

No one fancy posting a pic?

It's just that I'm getting worried that someone's gonna notice the boot's not shut and pinch my motor!! :(

Any help much appreciated.

Had a problem with My VRS that was as simple as the seal not being on properly. Sorry cant help with your request but worth checking the seal anyway.

You could try adjusting the striker plate:)

sorry mines only openable from inside so not much use to your dilema.

Is it on a driveway? Can u reverse it right up to a wall or something so its not openable?

Mine does that too, just need to give it an extra push to shut it flush

Try slackening off the boot catch hook (on the top of the bumper area) and moving it slightly down. This will mean that the boot "latches" sooner.

Another possibility is that the trim inside the boot is loose. I had this problem at first after fixing SWMBO's rear washer...

Before moving the 'working bits', try the triangles on the side. Loosen them completely so they do nothing and then try. BOL

striking plate isnt loose is it? had this on my last car, everything looked in place, but because one of the bolts was slightly loose (not to hand but when you shut it) it wouldnt shut properly.

slam it harder
