orange oil light?

Featured Replies

hi im new to the forum i have a 2.0 skoda superb and when the ignition is on the oil light is red if u start the car it goes out and then comes on orange any ideas would be very much appreciated thanks

Check the level. AIUI, an orange light means low oil level, and a red one means low oil pressure. If the level is OK, the oil level sensor may be faulty. Assuming that's all that's up, you'll be OK to keep driving until you can book it in to get the sensor changed, provided you keep an eye on the oil level 'manually' with the dipstick. I should warn you that I'm not 100% certain, though, so it may be a good idea to wait for a second opinion...

i have just had it serviced so oil level is fine, thanks for your help

Orange is level and red is pressure. Make sure you check the level when the car is cold and on a level surface.

If the level is fine then its possible the sensor is faulty. I'm not sure where this sensor is though...?

as far as im aware the sensor is in the bottom of the sump? can any one clarify this?

That sensor measures oil temperature, so no I don't think thats the one.

I think it will be the pressure sensor tbh, but could be barking up the wrong tree.

ok... its got the azm engine in it if that helps at all?

Right, I've had a little look and I can't see any evidence of a "level" sensor as such, so I think its worked out from oil pressure. The pressure switch isn't dear so it might be worth changing that.

IIRC the pressure sensor can have a ultrasonic and a float device in it to work out level and quality etc.

Orange is definitely a level check.
