Fabia front end repair

Featured Replies

Hi. Would be most grateful if anyone could advise... I managed to shunt a large 4wd in slow traffic today. My fault. Damage to my Fabia estate is as follows: headlight loose (fittings sheared, by the looks of things) and adjacent radiator grill surround (the painted part, not the chrome) cracked.

The headlamp is working fine - am I looking at replacing the whole thing, or can the fittings normally be replaced separately? As for the grill surround, I know it's easy enough to replace this on the front of the bonnet, but will I need to order the whole grill etc?

Would be good to know more before I head for the shop to order stuff.

I have a spare plastic "bit" that the water radiator and aircon rad sit in. It's just been knocked on the nearside slightly which has expanded the hole a torx usually goes through, but all the fixings at the front, down each side, and on the offside are all there. Would only really want postage & packing covered in terms of price. :)

I imagine the headlight is needed complete. The grill surround can be ordered separately as it comes in 3 pieces (painted bit, chrome bit, and the slatty bit)

Be sure to get it at least checked by a certified accident repair centre, although the shunt was minor you may have caused more damage than you think. The crash bar may have been bent, cars are designed to crumple under the smallest loads. For the sake of a tenner to get someone to look at it, its worth the peace of mind IMHO.

I speak from SWMBO's experience.

Thanks for the advice. It doesn't look as if anything is bent, from what I can see, but I'll be gettng it checked tomorrow anyway.

Cheers

James

I dumped my slightly damaged front end rads holding frame yesterday as I figured it wasn't really suitable for you. It's gone to the dump along with my old back bumper. :D
