STOP BRAKE FAILURE dash message

Featured Replies

Got in the car this morning and got the following message with lots of beeping. STOP BRAKE FAILURE SERVICE MANUAL. The handbrake light flashed then the message cleared. Anyone had this? Is it just a brakepad replacement warning or something more serious? Don't want to take it to the main dealer for brakepads if I can help it.

Tried checking the brake fluid level and visually looking at the pads?

That is the first step. Since it's your brakes you need to get it checked out as otherwise it's potentially an accident waiting to happen.

Thats more than just low pads mate. I think its fluid level related tbh.

Cheers. I'll be booking in at the local garage to get it checked out then.

Isn't it ironic they say STOP when there's a brake failure?

Sorry.

On a serious note, why not take it to the dealer? Surely it's under warranty... then if they do turn around and say it's pads then take it elsewhere.

How many miles have you done?

I have had the same warning message for the last couple of days (cold mornings), the brake fluid level was low, rear pads were a tad low.....changed the pads lastnight now all is well :D
