Parrot CK3000 Evolution

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a 56 reg Fabia vRS and have just purchased a Parrot CK3000 evolution from Halfords and am getting it fitted on Saturday by one of their technicians.

When I bought it he came out into the car park, quickly pulled out my head unit and said I don't need any extra leads, just the Parrot kit in it's box……I thought a separate lead was needed?

Any ideas?

Dan

You need a lead to run from a switched earth in the fuse box to a the input for a switched earth in the harness.

Personally I just cut the ISO harness up, made a look taking a permy live, a switched live and an earth from the fuse box and then got the correct connectors from skoda to put that into the fuse box.

At the other end you take two of the output wires into the head unit again with the correct wires and connector from skoda and also connect the head unit mute to it.

All works quite nicely and integrated properly with the Headunit.

Total parts cost was about £5 IIRC.

The guy said he would "Take a permanent live from the ciggy lighter"......so what is he planning to do without any additional leads?

He literally pulled the standard head unit out and said "no lead needed" in 2 secs.

Don't let him fit it IMHO.

You need either a lead to allow the parrot box to work as a mute box, or to cut the adapter down and use the official skoda connectors and wires.

You *need* the switched live and the permanent live as otherwise your parrot will be on all the time and could drain the battery over time.

If they thinks they can take a switched live from the ciggy lighter rather than the permy as you suggested that won't work as it's always on.

It sounds like they might be thinking about tapping into the OEM wiring.

Stu has a guide up that shows how to do similar kits and I really really wouldn't let that fitter near the thing IMHO.

Happy to give you any further info you want.

Hello again :)

As discussed I've just emailed Autoleads to confirm if we require a lead or if there's an easier fix.

The fitter's wrong as Cheeze suggested - the cig lighter is permanent... although I'm sure the unit has a ignition source behind it as I've got a Nokia HFK wired into my mum's car.

Either way I'll have a definite solution tomorrow

Thanks guys! Bluefox, thanks again! Will keep an eye on the forum.

Right... I've got this response from Autoleads tech:

"Fabia - it depends on the year as the whether it will be ISO or Quadlock

connection, but like all of the VAG models (Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW) the

cigar lighter is battery fed, and any accessory pick would come from the

fuse box. This is where the wired fuses (p.100 of the catalogue) are a

must in this industry, hopefully they will appear your computer systems

soon, but in the meantime, most stores are ordering them in under

workshop components!"

Your car has ISO as the member of staff who you first saw has confirmed.

However as you can also see the get a correct ignition feed, the fitter will need to get a separate feed from the back of the fusebox.

This is something that at Halfords we can actually do - although procedure dictates that only the correctly trained staff perform this. As I'm sure you'll all agree, the potential for things to go wrong is quite high...

Anyway - I will speak to the store in the morning before the fit to see if they have the correctly trained staff. Could you PM me with who you spoke to, which store and what time you're having it fitted? Your mobile number would be handy as well so I can phone you with the results!

Octy II has no switched live, it's on CAN, so you have to pull one from somewhere else. The easiest way to do that without damaging the wiring is to do it via the fuse box.

EDIT: B0llox I saw the pic and thought Octy II.

If it's a MK I fabia VRS then yes it just piggy backs on ISO.

Sorry for the confusion :o:O

Yes it is a 56 reg Fabia vRS mate....apologies for the profile pic, I sold the Race Blue Octavia vRS and bought a 4x4 Octy Scout for the missus + daughter and got myself the fabia....

Only comment is that he doesn't need to take any extra permy lives and just needs to swap the red and yellow leads over as per the instructions in the parrot installation manual

Nice one, I suspected the Furby stereo has an ign live in there somewhere...

Thanks Cheeze, that makes my life a lot easier! :D

Race Blue: I'll give you a call this afternoon as discussed to make sure we can get you sorted ASAP

On a MK I octy I put the box behind the glovebox with industrial velcro to the left of the radio, had the leads behind it and then just ran the mic up the LH A Pillar and tucked it behind the lip on the headlining.

That doesn't show phone when it's in use and stop the radio though, it just leaves the radio going and mutes it instead.

Yes I think the fitter hinted it would just mute the stereo - ideally I'd like it to show 'phone' if possible.....

Cheers all.

Not sure if it'll show "phone", but it will mute the stereo.

Anyway, I've passed your details onto the store manager... so he'll be calling you shortly with regards to fitting :)

Any more problems drop me a PM

Excellent, thanks....hopefully whoever does it will do it properly ;)

I don't know if the CK3000 has the line outs that the CK3100 and 3200LS have. If it does, then to get the phone display and stop the CD you would need to get the correct skoda connectors block and wires for your radio (£5 or under) and run the two wires into that and plug it into your radio back.

Stu's fabia vrs site has the info on it about the connectors. This would be in place of connecting the speaker cable ISO part of the loom.

It's in the parrot manual which is available from their site.

Yep.

I'm pretty sure it's just a basic kit, there's no mention of these line outs and I've never connected them... although without having one in front of me it's hard to confirm :)

Speaking of which (and slightly unrelated), is there a mute pin on the ISO of the Furby? I'm about to install a new Bluetooth kit in mum's, so I wanted to check. (I didn't have time to connect it on the kit that's in there now, so she just turns the radio off).

There was on the MK I octy, so I'd be pretty sure the Fabia does have one too. It's how the kits mute the radio so they can put their input out of the speakers. :)
