1.4 mpi water pump

Featured Replies

Engine coolant resevoir completly emptied on me tonight just as i parked up. Filled it up and turned the motor over to find out that there is a tiny little jet leak coming out of what appears to be the rear of the water pump. Can anyone tell me if this is an expensive problem to have fixed? and how long it takes in terms of labour?

many thanks guys.,

Its a bit of a pain to change as the water pump is built into the engine mounting, A couple of hours tops.

i had exactly the same problem, thing is i had only replaced it 1500 miles ago and just did another one last week. it is a booger to do since it is also engine mount but i managed to do it myself.

Whats the process like for changing it yourself if you dont mind me asking? I'd be keen to change it myself if i could, pretty sure i'd have all the tools etc, and im not a stranger to getting my hands dirty, just dont have a clue about the water pump etc.

all the best, 2012
