Intercooler Advice.

I am looking at cooling for my vRS.

Would love the likes of a Forge FMIC, but money is a real limit.

How good are the PD150 (might be PS160) standard FMIC?

What sort of cooling rate do they give? and whats the power limit?

Looking at something like this...

SEAT LEON TDI INTERCOOLER on eBay, also, Seat, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 07-Nov-08 09:54:28 GMT)

Dont want to get a cheapo ebay intercooler.

I like the look of the SEAT Sport intercooler too, but would have to buy 2nd hand, but cant find one.

Not including piping, £ limit is £150 really. Maby £180 if its mega good.

Please bare in mind i have a hybrid and W/I in the pipe line. (obveousally with all the associated clutch etc).

Thanks in advance.

They are useless if your planning on hybrid turboing it.....

If your looking at doing that then dont skimp out, just spend the money.....theres getting to be alot out there now.....so your proberly best buying one ready done  thats if a chav hasn't got it or it hasn't been ragged

I put a seat one on, it was off a leon but it was biger than the standard pd150 one

Get in touch with Forge on here directly and they might do you a great deal ;)

Won't be as cheap as the intercoolers you've mentioned but their product and support is excellent!

Ask forge to build the same spec one they made for me. Its quite alot bigger than the kit one they do for the Fabia :)

I know what you mean.

Buying a car with a big turbo would be great, but what would i get for my car, compared to buying a hybrid?

Surly i will be loosing out alot?

And what about the choice of quality of parts the person has used? Dont want to get another car, and then the clutch and flywheel are knackered or whatever.

I see your point, but do you see mine?

Wouldnt mine a few more opinions and some price guesses thrown in.

My car has done about 62k, and had a new cambelt and metal waterpump 4k ago.

Thanks, Dave

How much do you think i could get a Big Forge one direct for?

Scrap that.

Shifty, How much did you pay for your big one?

Down the road from me there is a place called Merlin Motorsport. Used to go there alot with my Mini (proper one).

They do Forge intercoolers from £189.00.. Core size is 500 x 60 x 175mm

Hopfully i could get a bigger one, as im after a good 210-220hp, and loads of torque (torque more important i reckon).

Sorry to sound blunt but if your worried about loosing out now then dont build one  you will NEVER see any of that money back.

your talking 1k for the turbo, 6-800 for the intercooler, 450 for a remap, clutch is around 1k, so thats the essentials which add up to roughly 3k.....

likes of a certain silver one which sold for the same price as a normal one a few months back.....

What about using water injection, this should give the same effects as a larger intercooler for your budget

So looks like ill be looking in the forsale section then. lol.

W/I is on the list either way Alex. Good stuff. (Hows yours by the way?)

Dave

how much extra would Water/Meth injection give on a standard turbo and IC??

Just a thought?

Sorry if this causes offence, but if you can't afford to do it properly, I wouldn't do it at all...

I have the 'standard' Forge FMIC for the Fabia and I'm more than happy with it. The quality is excellent. As has been mentioned already, call them and see what they can do for you. You haven't a hope of sorting something proper for near that proposed budget though.
