  1. A lot of fun! Much more low down pull, it is a much lighter car though possibly just sub 1000kg. The 5 speed box.....Neither easy or normal, I would say hard. No issues with the box or clutch. The brakes weren't really up to prolonged hard use but I suspect they are smaller than yours. I've replaced the Tsi with a Gti now (same engine but 6 speed) and this is running 147 bhp. I have no concerns at all over reliability. Complaints of failed actuators are generally down to lack of use, slow driving etc.
  2. I ran a VW UP 1.0 Tsi 90 to over 40k miles mapped to 143 bhp and I think I used 1/2 litre of oil in 4 years of hard use. No problems at all, cracking little engine.
  3. Hello! A modest VW High UP! Tsi. And for cod's hake, I've haddock enough fish puns over the years to last me a lifetime
  4. You know when you haven't been on here for a bit, search your name and decide to revive a 4 year old thread? That. Hello old friends and chippy visitors. I am as it happens still in the chippy game and have been since mid 2017. I can be found in Blackpool here - Fishers Plaice The usual 10% Briskoda discount still applies :)
  5. In the UK I am also in search of somewhere dark enough to see the Milky Way in all of it's splendour. I'm sure you are aware there is a season for viewing it here in the Northern Hemisphere. There are some very useful phone apps, I use 'stellarium' and the 'photographers ephemeris' on android, if you have an apple phone then photo pills is the holy grail of planning apps. Here are a couple of shots I got on the same night in an area called Manning Park, British Columbia, Canada back in September. We were 7500 ft up a mountain (we drove obviously) and went with the sole intention of seeing the Milky Way. As luck would have it we were treated to a very rare Aurora. I say rare as apparently it doesn't get that far South often. That was 2 things of my bucket list in the same evening. I still haven't got around to procesing the RAW files in a way that I'm 100% happy with so you will have to make do with these :)
  6. I've just been informed of this sad news. Graham always made me laugh on the forums at the meets, the drives out and when he fell in love with my old Fabia and bought it the same night. May he wreak havoc wherever his next stop is. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
  7. I've read some of the posts in this thead with something along the lines of amazement. All I can contribute, if it is even a contribution, is this forum has changed quite a lot since I was more active. Mind you, so has society. I'm certain though that this affects Volkswagens (or effects if you prefer ) in the US of A. Why there is 20 pages of arguments and speculation about Skoda in the UK is anybody's business.
  8. The Daleks are coming. Or leaving it would seem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdcJHPEQHT0
  9. Mine is the 100% SAAB 2.3 HOT. Car weighs in at 1750kgs and it's an auto. 30+ on a run
  10. Funnily enough, no. My neighbour however who just moved in is a funeral director. I could, if I had a nice black superb wagon, offer to help him carry his silent passengers around on a weekend. You know for morbid ****s and giggles. I couldn't do that in a Yeti.
  11. As Volvo has been mentioned, how about the actual most comfortable car on the planet? The Saab 9-5 Aero Hot. Bit heavy, bit thirsty, but very good at it's job.
  12. Thanks Phil, yes the Yeti is 4x4. It looks nicely kitted out... however the fuel consumption isn't brilliant from what Ive just researched. It's pointing toward the Superb at the moment. I'm getting around 18mpg from my 10 year old Saab and spend more than the monthly payments on these new Skoda's in fuel alone. It's just not cost effective for me to run an old car anymore with repairs etc. What I'm getting at is the economy needs to be quite high, and i suspect it will be much higher on the Superb than the Yeti.
  13. Engine wise I believe they both have 150ps 2.0 oilburners. I also looked at an Octavia vRS estate, but the loadspace is a bit useless for me as the boot is a lot smaller than my current Saab and those seats dont fold at all flat. I was still tempted obviously, and in some wierd spur of the moment brainwave I could still end up with one because... well because vRS. Primer grey is the best non colour in my opinion. Good choice,
