Fabia water pump, rip?

Featured Replies

Had a water pump change on a 1.4mpi fabia, 2001. Was charged £60 for a new pump? £8 for the sump or something. 2 and a half hours labour?

How does this size up with you guys? I cant help but feel its a bit steep.

Thanks,

2012.

My sources tell me that removal and installation of the waterpump on a 1.4 MPi should take 1.3 hours (so that's 1 hour 18 minutes for everyone that uses 60 minutes in an hour!) More or less double that does indeed seem excessive... The only thing sump-related I can think would be GBP 8.00 is a sump plug, but that's only replaced if you have an oil change???

They are a pain to change as they are built into the engine mounting. A couple of hours should do it though. But thats why garages quote customers before the work is done so you can disagree then not afterwards when its all done.
