Octy vRS - Hesitation before boost

Featured Replies

Just drove home from the cine, and noticed that I seem to be getting a sllight hesitation before the boost kicks in. I noticed it in 2nd, I was applying the throttle gently, so would expect a nice progressive build-up, but it seemed to stutter before giving a harsh kick.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Edited to say: May be unrelated and picky of me, but when I got the car (brand new 2500 miles ago), the rev counter was absolutely rock-steady at idle. Now however, it seems to move around slightly. I am talking slight, and it's not something I'd think twice about, but it didn't do it when I got it. Dealer said it was normal.

Have you tried running your fuel right down and filling up from a different supplier? I have experienced this with a tank full of Tesco fuel once, the pickup was noticeably poor until I ran it down and topped up at a local Shell and noticed a marked difference.

You could also try re-calibrating the throttle body by opening the driver

I use BP ultimate, but I could try a different fuel if it would help.

Dropping/ Varying revs at tick over is the VVT working to control the emissions and is perfectly normal.

Might want to try a fast run with plenty of revs to see if that cures the hesitation problem. Failing that I would recommend a CAI of some sort, mine is an ABD LAN Kit and makes no end of difference to pick-up but that is a different story i.e. its a mod and we all know that will take you down that slippery slope.

When you say turn on the ignition, do you actually start the engine, or just turn the key part-way til electrics etc. come on?

No starting of engine required, just turn the key part-way til dash lights come on.
