VRS 160 intake and panel filter mod effective?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has come up before guys and gals but this was mentioned to me at the South East meet last week. Can anyone tell me whether this has any performance advantage on an otherwise stock engine or does it just clean up the exhaust? Also how much are the parts and anyone know where (apart from SEAT Dealer) where I can get the intake in the Kent area? Also is the K & N filter generic or designed for this engine. Cheers:thumbup:

No, it's really only effective when your fitting it to a remapped engine where it does help reduce the clag under load and it really needs to be combined with a decent panel filter such as the K&N or Green (Which are to fit this car among others).

There is very little noticable "Performace" upgrade from fitting it except maybe making it a little less asmatic further up the range.

Do a search on it and you should find a few recent threads on this and the fact the price shot up drastically meaning the cost effectiveness of this mod has been seriously reduced

A kitten dies every time you don't use the search.

Slight performance gain, less smoke, free-er revving. Look for Rougemont on here, he sometimes has the parts for less than SEAT dealers. Or ebay.

Panel filters are made for the shape of your airbox - if it says it's for a Fabia it'll fit.

Dang - beaten ;)

I now have a nice new pair of gloves....

Cheers and sorry for being lazy! May just leave it as it is for now, no real problems with the way mine runs or revs at mo 33,000 miles just begnning to losen up!

If one comes up cheap, under £45ish, I'd snap it up, but wouldn't bother with the full price one unless your getting it remapped soon after. Just keep an eye open.

  • 2 weeks later...

i went to Jabba for a remap and had the intake and filter fitted before hand.

From the RR print out adding the above was good for about 5 BHP on its own. Obviously the remap was good foranother 40+ BHP but that's another story....
