Boot and dashboard lights Xreg fabia

Featured Replies

Hi

The lights behind my speedometer stopped working and the garage is quoting £365 to get them working. Said something about LEDs cluster needed replacing. Since then the boot won't open and the airbag light has come on.

Is there some fault that would cause all these things to happen or am I just unlucky I wonder?

Any help?

Bel

Can you give more info please? Have you remote locking (i.e. the boot does not need to be released by a lever by the driver's seat)? Do the other instrument type lights work - the headlight adjustment / speedo dim / door switches etc?

In the first instance, check all fuses...

a couple of weeks ago my backlight for speedometer stoped working. It was a blown fuse, it's the one that is for registration plate lights. Changed it, now it works again. Think it was a 5A fuse, brown colour.

Hi

All the panel works and the speedo works, it is purely the back light behind the speedo that's kaputt. Can't see from 20mph upwards.

The boot only opens by going round to the back and manually lifting it (normally). Except it doesn't now.

Sadly, I am not that technical but at least I have an idea where to start looking and can direct friend who is much more technical.

The boot will likely be a fuse, the interior light usually stops working as well. The speedometer illumination will be the dash panel insert.

Well, the boot lock is not operated by cable from the inside, so there is a possibility of a link. Can you get someone to listen by the boot when you operate the key? If the power is there, they should be able to hear a click. If so it may be jammed or the contacts on the rubber grip above the number plate may be corroded/dirty.For just the top of speedo lights, it could be LEDs or broken wire (if others are lit on the speedo it can't be the fuse). The lighting of the airbag bulb is probably linked. The problem is the cost of labour as so much needs taking apart to get at it. If you have a technical friend, I'd suggest that s/he start with the battery top connections and work back to main fusebox by driver's door. There's a guide to which is which in the lid and on this site. This will check all connections up to where the loom disappears into the speedo cowl. Depending on your friend's abilities and confidence, it may be worth buying a Haynes manual and having a go - but very careful with the airbags.

HTH for now
