Anyone confirm correct code for pollen filter

Featured Replies

Sorry reposting this to separate it from my previous thread.

I am confused as to which part code of pollen filter I should have. Just replaced the pollen filter and the new one doesn't have a foam gasket. The old part number is 1K2 819 653 A and the new part number (without gasket) is - 1K2 819 653 B.

Dealer reckons the filter with gasket has been superceded by the one without - he cant order the old part any more. Is this correct? I have seen this on one of the parts sites that the 'B' code is a replacement for the 'A' code.

Seems strange the filter would need the gasket and then suddenly not need it! Am I concerned about nothing?

I have one with a gasket and one without.

The one without is exactly the same size as the one with it, so I'd guess it's a cost saving exercise and fitted some suitable gasket to the new one.

If you go to GSF they sell the Mann filter ones.

These have the same part number (Mann one not VAG one) printed on the filter and come with the gasket so I'd use those.

The latest part number of 1K0 819 644 B is, from what I recall looking at my dealer's parts list, a pollen and odour filter; not just a pollen filter.

Either way, it's the part I got and fitted a few weeks ago in my Octy; see here;- http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/pollen-filter-service-interval-too-long/127642/

Yeah I've had an active carbon one and have one in there at the moment, but the dealer did say that they had checked and none of their new filters have gaskets on them.

Hence I added my own, but will go for the GSF version. Both are made by MANN and have the same part number so why pay more for exactly the same part outside of warranty?

Cambelt etc is a different matter, but not the pollen filter.
