Spare wheel

Featured Replies

Just noticed this on the updated brochure download from the website, the S comes with a full size steel spare wheel whilst the SE and Eleg come with a space saver...sorry but how is that "better" than the full sized spare, I mean you don't get any more boot space and tests have shown space savers aren't as safe and full sized ones.

No they all come with 205/55 x 16 steel spare wheel. Its just this is the same size as tyres on a 'S'.

The Elegance that I test drove had this in the boot. It is a proper tyre and wheel and not the ultra skinny 125 section that my current car has

where are you looking at the brochure ? i cant find a download on the skoda UK site ?

ok - i have found it and you are correct.

the brochure has been updated to incorporate the VAT reductions and then greenline model. i can spot the hill hold on the DSG petrol and the space saver.

what is naughty is that the front cover has not been changed and there is no obvious version / revision except in very small black text on the BACK cover NEWSS002 12/08

i hope my car does not come with a space saver. if it does i shall be talking to the dealer about getting it replaced as i didnt order a car with a space saver

I have an SE and whilst I have not taken it out to study it, it has a steel wheel with a 225/25 R16 tyre as a spare.

As mine has 17" alloys I guess this must be a space saver ?

not a space saver in the true definition. space savers are tiny little things that would look OK on a 1960's mini. they have a limited speed of 50mph and rabge of 70miles (continous). what you have got is a standard 16" wheel with normal tyre. suitable for normal driving up to teh legal speed limit until you can get a replacement.

this issue is one i have looked at recently when i had to help my Dad - his coil spring snapped and went through his tyre. he was recovered to a local garage who assumed he woudl have a psace saver and i started to sort out picking up his wheel and getting him a proper tyre so he didnt have to drive on a space saver. when the garage opened the boot they were surprised to find a 205/55/16 so no need to worry !

The SE in the showroom had a full size steel wheel if its 16" then I don't really care as long as its the same diameter as the rest of the wheels so I don't have to "limp" around.
