Door Handles!

Featured Replies

Been a bit stupid... again..

This morning the car was very very frosty, and I could not open any of the doors!

In my attempts to open the passenger door I seem to have caused some damage to it!

I gave the door handle a bit of a hefty pull, and it opened.... but now the handle will not sit back flush! The central part of the handle (the bit that pulls/hinges out) now sits about 5mm proud from the rest of door handle!

Am I the first to do this? Or just the first to admit it!

Any thoughts on a cheap way to sort it?

Thanks

Matthew

I would think the bowden cable has slipped behind it. Have a look in the technical guides section there is a 'how to' on removing Fabia/Octavia door handles, yours in the same. May just want re adjusting.

if you open the door, you will see two plastic caps on the edge. pull them off and they will reveal two allen headed screws. The top one needs to come right out, then unscrew the bottom one slowly whilst pulling on the lock barrel from outside the car. When the barrel comes out you will see the wire that keeps tension on the door pull. Adjust it then put it all back together.

Simple!

Pretty good but they are T20 screws not allen headed ;)

Same difference with some of our engineers

Pedantic - –adjective 1.ostentatious in one's learning.2.overly concerned with minute details or formalisms, esp. in teaching.

He would have found that out when he stuck the allen key in the hole...

But thanks for the praise -

Aye but there is nothing like being prepared with the right tool in hand.
