Garmin Forerunner 305

Featured Replies

Do any Briskoda members own or know much about these?

I have just bought one, and have been for a short run to test it out and so far i'm impressed, but i'm wondering if anyone can give me some handy tips on what it can do, or how to use it to its best?

All info/guides/weblinks appreciated :)

I have the 405, and found it to be a very useful piece of kit. I can't really give any tips on using it or the software as I've ony used it for the basics, but it works better if you have a garmin sat nav map program on your computer as it has every street on it rather than just main roads.

Cheers Roo,

Since starting this thread i've done plenty of googling for any tips/tricks/software and found this site:

DC Rainmaker: Ten Random Tips for your Garmin Forerunner 305

Not sure if its any good with respect to the 405, but the link to the software is spot on with my 305 and i'm able to view my routes on Google earth :)

I'm tempted to buy some maps for the forerunner, but mot sure if they will be worth it in the long run as its a training aid more than a sat nav, and i already have TomTom and Nokia maps....

TBH the maps are only worth it as an add on if you already have the satnav. I would not buy the maps just for that. The PC base map it loads are just fine

The tips on that link will work with mine. I really need to get out and about again with it. I've hardly used it since I did the great north run.

To be honest, i'm struggling to find any details about what maps i can use, even on the Garmin website.

I'll give it a miss i think, the 305 was dear enough without spending more money on maps.

I'm looking forward to using it out in norway next week, will be interesting to see how it performs in extreme cold and how much effort i use in the snow.
