Wiring for fitting Alpine DVD head unit

Featured Replies

I am hoping to replace the standard stream stereo in my VRS with an Alpine single DIN DVD unit, but am wary of the risk of battery drain if it isn't wired up properly to the power feed.

Have read other posts, and it appears I may just have to swap some wires over on the Alpine wiring to prevent this.

Does anyone out there have experience of fitting Alpines into an Octy 2, and, if so, can you offer any advice please ?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

I have an aftermarket single din Alpine CD tuner fitted to my 2006 Octy II vRS - it has no 'constant feed' power so I can't turn the unit on at all with the ignition switched off.

Presumably then the stereo is fully operative so long as you switch the ignition on, so could still be used when stationary.

Should also mean there is no risk of battery drain when the ignition key is removed.

Do you find it a problem having no constant power feed, or is it something you can/have to live with ?

You can probably tell from the above that my technical skills are virtually non-existent !
