ISP: stick with Orange, or ditch for Sky?

Featured Replies

Interested in anyone that's done the above switch to here their experience of upload and download speeds @ 8meg service.

Orange I'm finding slower and slower on downloads and uploads and thinking of ditching for Sky. Both are £5 for me, so the issue is really which has the better speed.

Checkout Sky locally - some areas it's ok -some like round here it's more off than on - so my daughter tells me .(that's landline BTW)

I'd only be moving the net access, keeping BT for the line as only ever hear horror stories about the wholesale landline side.

In-laws in next exchange have theirs fine, sister-in-law's just got hers and alls well. Again different exchange. There do seem to be a number of Sky routers popping up, so I guess we're in an OK area.

I'd tell your daughter to kick of at sky and if things dont improve, use their terms to dump them and move on. Just dont use Tiscali ;)

I changed from Pipex to Sky, Pipex a supposedly premium DSL supplier and gained 200k download with Sky, from around 600kbps max to 800kbps+ max. So not Orange to Sky but I can vouch for the speed increase.

Pipex service is pretty pants these days, I believe they are now owned by Tiscali. Sky only offer BB services in which they have their LLU equipment.

I'm in the process of migrating from Pipex to Sky due to Sky being cheaper so hopefully I'll get a faster connection in the process!
