What colour is she?

Featured Replies

:)Have a look in the front luggage compartement, under the 2 headlamp relays. You should find a sticker with the colour and paint code.

Dunno, but if you just want it brighter, what about wash, T-Cut, shampoo followed by a decent wax?

nah... just paint it yellow...

Not that bad an idea, if you wanted to spend out on a respray.

Oh yes, she's definitely going to be given a thorough wash, T-Cut, shampoo and decent wax!!

Not sure about going with the yellow though Tenman... I wouldn't want to compete!!! I'd like to get her back to looking as original as possible cos the paintwork underneath her that hasn't faded is actually surprisingly nice!

And thanks for pointing me in the right direction Dave!

I think the colour is Hippberry Red

Thanks rigsby... yep, just checked at thats what colour she is/was/will be cleaned up and restored to again!

Hippberry red always looks good, especialy with white wheels. Also i would get rid of the rubbing strips down the side

I'm trying to keep cost down to a minimum, so the wheels are gonna stay for the moment, though I was thinking of getting rid of the rubbings strips. Obviously the back bumper had to go when changing the engine over and I really like her without the back bumper on - but not convinced that this is a sensible thing to do given she's gonna be rallied!!!:eek: Also, would have to have the front bumper off too if I did that, and I wanna keep that cos of the lights on the front....

I'd refit the back bumper too. Not sure about the running strips; really it depends on exactly how they're attached, and you need the Estelle experts to tell you if they're clipped on or just glued.

I would think about "adding lightness" (remove as much interior trim etc as you can though, cos that's a cheap way to more speed from better accleration, braking and cornering (less weight means better power to weight ratio, less to stop, and less for the tyres to have to fight when cornering).

hmm... we used to put a big slab of concrete in the front of the estelle we used for autotesting to help with the handling... side strips are just glued on with the rapid at least...

Well, it depends on what you're trying to achieve. In autotesting I can see how getting the distribution more forward would matter more than acceleration and braking. After all, who ever heard of an autotest where you got above 2nd gear?

I think I managed to get into 3rd once at Truckhaven....

I used to fill an old spare wheel with concrete and put it in the spare wheel tray, this way the weight was as low as possible

I was just reminded about how Porsche sorted the weight distn and handling on the early 911s by putting 22kg of cast iron in the front bumper. Somehow, with an Estelle I can't help thinking that going up 10mm (or maybe 20) on tread width and down from 80 to 70 section on the rear tyres (plus a second spare in the front boot) would be a better idea!

Be careful with t-cut. After my experience with it I'd say it does do the job but I'd rather try something less abrasive first and would rather do 2 full applications of a less abrasive product if it worked.
