Engine Warning Light Diagnosis

Featured Replies

Thanks to everyone who replied to my original post. After a visit to my local Skoda dealer...the diagnosis.....a faulty coolant temp sensor giving rogue parameters apparently. A replacement part on order and fitting under warranty in 1 weeks time. Surprisingly the friendly mechanic implied numerous vehicles suffering the same problem....due to hotter than normal weather conditions...can you believe it ? I find it hard to believe that a temp sensor is not stocked, moreso when numerous cars have been in with the same problem. The warning light hasn't been reset as it will come on again apparently, so awaiting the replacement. Does anyone know where the sensor is located ?

Top coolant hose, just to the right hand side of the cylinder head as you look at the engine, just above the bell housing of the gearbox. Its a four pin sensor with a small horseshoe shaped clip holding it in place.

TBH im not suprised they dont have one in stock, Im told they have just superceeded it again for the fault and are probably awaiting new stock.

And it is very very common.

Yeah, mine's currently gone too...has been since the "colder than normal weather conditions"... :D

Pesky VW components!

Rob.

When I turned up with my old DV in my hands they told me it'd be a week too. He explained that they put a job card in, the warranty company authorises it and orders a new part which is sent to the dealers and then they fit it.

Unless he was just spewing vocal crud at me to cover up for their lack of stock :)
