I have just bought an Octavia VRS Estate (54 plate) and am not happy with the sound system. Could anybody give me some straight and easy advise on whether I need to change the head unit and/or speakers. I have a budget of £300.

Replace the speakers first but get some with decent power. Then change the headunit. There is a vast range to choose and whether you want to run a MP3 though it as well. Try here: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/home.html

You could just change the headunit, but stock speakers tend to be very weedy and underpowered. Therefore you won't get the best from the new headunit and at worse damage the speakers. Get a decent headunit and speakers and really enjoy your music.
