Now I REALLY hate my car!

Featured Replies

On top of everything else (the puncture, the drivers door lock, the rear wiper, the drivers door mirror and most recently the engine mounts collapsing) I've just gone out the the car to read the part number off the top nearside engine mount and guess what?

Ideas (apart from a can of petrol and a match)???

feel for you!

how long you had the car?

Id get a very cheap pile of frog ***** and run it into the ground and get the vRS into ur garage and go thru it wi a fine tooth colm and revamp it.

thats coz i love mine and think it is one of the best lookin cars out there under 30K

all the best mate.

apologies for all the swearing in the first post... I just completely lost it when I pulled the bonnet release and instead of hearing a satisfying "clunk" as it opened, all I heard was "..............." (absolutely nothing)

Had to dismantle my mesh grill with a claw hammer to access the bonnet catch.

Then when I removed my engine mount I found that instead of the rubber part failing, the gearbox fixing part had broken!

Managed to get that off, then it was a trip to the scrappy to get a replacement (as the engine mount bushes were fine)

2 hours later and after dropping an Octavia driveshaft on my foot (it fell out of the car I was stripping) I have a perfectly good lower gearbox fixing!

However, the tale of woe doesn't end there...

for those of you who have taken one of these things off, you will know it has three lower fixings, all into the gearbox. Well on mine, the centre one has broken off, taking a small part of the gearbox casing with it.:(

AND... the front bolt has sheared off inside the gearbox casing!

I started thinking "how unlucky am I?" until I thought about all the motorway journeys I have done recently with my wife and kids in the car; and now I'm thinking "at least we didn't crash and get hurt/hurt anyone else"

So, the Octy has gone to my local gearbox specialist who is going to whip out the gearbox, drill out the snapped stud and weld up the broken mount. Going to cost me somewhere in the region of £300...:irked:
