Mk 2 Octy VRS Speakers

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me what size speakers are fitted? I've got some tasty speakers that came out of my old car which I'd love to fit.

In the front they are big things riveted in.

Best thing to do is drill te rivets out and either buy a plastic adaptor that takes 6 1/2" speakers, or build your own baffle out of a few layers of MDF.

The adaptor is a Golf MK5 one and although the doors will take deep speakers, the location is pants and you will lose some bass impact as a result of being sat almost straight in-line with the drivers.

I just cut around the edge of the cone and tore the old speaker out. Then using a hacksaw blade i cut the frame of the speaker out and used the original pod to mount my speaker in.

So are they worth upgrading or are the originals reasonable quality? I've got some infinity 6510's and some infinity 6502's, both of which are 6 1/2 inch. Anyone done a how to fit guide?

They was ok, but i upgraded the speakers before i replaced the headunit. The only difference i had is that i lost some of the bass on the front door speakers.

Didn't bother me as i was putting the sub in anyhoo, so that makes up for the loss in bass.

i have put some alpine type r speakers in the rear doors to replace the skoda originals, but they sound pants. what am i doing wrong? is it a wiring fault? for some reason i carn,t get my head round it? btw its an octavia 2 vrs. cheers
