New Clutch Me Thinks?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, not posted for a while and need some advise. I've got what feels like the old increase revs no power scenario but also i have now got the traction control (the standard ASR) light on the dash and the engine management light on so thinking it could be something else but they've only come on recently and i have been feeling it gradually getting worse like a typical clutch wear. Oh its a Mk 1 Octy Vrs, with 70k on it (i've never had a car wear a clutch at 70k but do drive like a priest). My wife drives the car most of the time (family hatch) and she hasn't felt it getting worse but agreed with me the other day when she was embarrased by an old orion. Also if it is the clutch does antbody know a vag specialist type in the southport area whod be happy to fit vr6 clutch and g60 flywheel arrangement? also get the thing on a vag com for the dash codes?

thanks in advanced.

Any help much appreciated..

Leon

If the ASR and EML are on, it may well not be the clutch. What is really diagnostic of that is if the revs rise and the road speed doesn't rise in proportion.

Would you feel that Awesome GTi in Irlam (Manchester) is too far to go? Alternatively, you could check your Yeloow Pages for Fylde Performance Cars, since we've a member who was very pleased with their work on his Fabia.

Definately feels like clutch, revs are rising but no relative roadspeed increase. Not tried a hill start yet.

I work in manchester so may not be a problem, but was really after someone local who someone could recommend but if theres no then a trip to irlams not out of the question. I used to used dubsport a fair few years ago (not on my Octy) which is round the corner from me. But i suppose manchester may be ok. Many thanks for the reply.

Awesome have their own forum in the Site Sponsors section; post there and I'm sure Andy and Sarah will see to your requirements.

Could be a faulty MAF, causing the lights.

I have just had my clutch replaced at 65k, due to noisy DMF. Clutch Life wasn't to bad on removing.
