Ok here's an update.

I got the PC5-52 fitted, i had to tap into the ignition wire on the radio due to the fact the auto aerial was 12v permanent live on the new HU when connected to original wiring. The reception was a little better but nothing like symphony reception. Every 30 seconds or so i got a ticking noise over the speakers. I think this is due to the PC5-52.

Do all after market HU's have poor reception or is it just my cheap one? Also is there a cure for the ticking?

Thanks

As long as the booster is working then reception should be the same as the symphony. The ticking noise suggests that you are picking up interference through the wiring, either into the booster or headunit. You could try moving the booster behind the headunit away from any wiring and see if it improves.

Did you swap the permanent and switched live wires round? The powered aerial shouldn't be live all the time or an aerial connected to it wouldn't go down.

You could be getting interference from the feed into the radio you tapped into.

My Blaupunkt HU has miles better reception than the original symphony HU.

I did not need to swap the switched and permanent wires round they were ok when i received it. The aerial wire is connected from the HU to skoda wire: 5 - Terminal 30 - Battery Positive (not assigned to Symphony).

So i just tapped the booster into the ignition wire.

what number pin in the skoda loom should the aerial wire be wired to
