Glovebox Rattle Doing My Tits In!

Featured Replies

hey guys,

ive a 1.8t 02 superb theres a clicking noise from the glovebox area when driving, it used to be just at speeds over 80 but now its at 30+ im a mechanic myself so naturally ive had the dash out several times covered everything in foam and refitted, the buggers still there, ive also checked around the pollen filter etc, any ideas before i roll it off a cliff?

Yep, got the same trouble, I think it's either the heater fan bearing or there's an object that's managed to enter the casing, mines not so much a click but more like a dry grind sound, try boosting the heater fan and see if it gets louder/faster or goes away.

i dont think its that, i unplugged it all and rebuilt thinking it mayb be the actuators inside but it doesnt seem so, i really dont know what it is,

I have the same problem plus some rattle from the center of the dash too.

One guy in Czech had a same issue, he took it to the skoda dealer and they told him that it's a known 'wear' and they would have to remove all of the dashboard and fix some bearing which would cost £££

Hi all,

I've had two types of rattle: a more quiet one, rhytmic sound and a more coarse, grinding sound. Got rid of the latter one with the garage just adding grease to the fan bearings. I think the sound was a result of the well-known water ingress problem.

The other sound is still there - I've read from another forum that the sound could come from misaligned air control fins; the ones that control air flow to the "tunnels".
