Pbox tuning chip for my VRS

Featured Replies

Ever heard of them anyone?

Inherited one on my Fabia VRS and was wondering if it is any good?

I do have the receipt for fitting by a main dealer so i assume it doesnt have a custom map type thing it is purely a plug and play type thing so in all honestly more likely to do harm than good?

The website printed on it goes knowhere of any significance used auto dealers repair buy at pbox.cc

I assume it is basically the same as a power commander for bikes ie it just scrambles the ECU's messages and sends it's own?

This is a pic of it.

But this is a quarter the size!

Where does the wiring loom run from the box?

wiring seems to be spliced into the cable that goes into the top front right of the engine cover. i'm guessing fuel pump or injectors?

It also has a power source run off the battery not to mention it has a key to switch it off

if it is the one you have linked to then my one was installed from new circa 2004 so they may well have changed the packaging/size since then

Spliced, Or a Y connector?

If i'm honest i dont know as there is a plastic sheathing around it that when i am using a torch to see i dont want to undo. judging on it though i would say they are not pull apart connecters

Pretty much all of the tuning boxes (The ones i've seen) are smaller than a mobile phone,

Is there much of a difference to the performance when it's switched off?

I know I'm used to power commanders etc for bikes that are tiny in comparison

it is definately quicker yes but it loses some of it's throttle responsiveness so i have it switched off most of the time along with the fact i get better mpg with it off.

Obviously leave it 'til it's light, If the wiring looks similar to above, It's a 10 minute job to remove the whole shebang if required.

If its spliced into the cars loom just leave it alone, It's been there from new(ish) and the cars still doing what it should, And the dealer wouldn't/shouldn't fit anything to compromise the warranty.
