Hi

Just bought my first Skoda.

Did work on them back in the 80's when at mech colledge.

I purchased it for several reasons.

Economy 55mpg , road tax (1.9sdi £110 in 2010) but mainly for the size of the boot as my mums car was crap (Daewoo Kalos) for putting a wheel chair in plus other things.

This meant i have had to change from a BMW 325 TD. Now i had that 3 series for 5 years and loved it and was quite upset in having to change a car i know well and do love (but the body work needs TLC).

To be honest for the driving i do now the Skoda estate is perfect. The only time i will miss my BMW is when i hit the open road and want to get to 70 (have to say that for legal reasons) quickly or overtake a car (as long as i don't exceed 70mph) that is travelling slower than 70.

Ok it won't go around the corners as fast or get me to 60 in less than 18 seconds but for the town and local driving its ideal and better (not putting the 3 series down)than the 3, but on the odd occassion i have had to travel at 70 mph it does it very smoothly and quietly.

Glad to have joined this site
