Mapping the Octy VRS TDI and clutch life

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After reading this, ( http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/octavia-vrs-diesel-chipping/102450/ ) I apologise for digging up a relatively old thread but I'm struggling to find answers regarding mapping the VRS TDI and clutch wear. After custom mapping the Fabia to a deliberately conservative 160bhp and 296ft/lb at Jabba, the clutch has slipped just a couple of times when hot (after giving the car a pasting for a few miles) and so that got me thinking about the Octy VRS diesel I'm planning on getting at the end of the year.

Standard we're talking 170bhp and 270 odd ft/lb I take it so is it safe to assume the standard clutch on the VRS is uprated over the 140? Also is it up to the job of 200bhp and 315ft/lb plus?

Also there's a fair bit of talk regarding mapping and the DPF (companies being reluctant to do it), specifically on the PD. Is the CR in the same boat?

Finally, map wise, does anyone know if Jabba offer a generic map for the VRS? Was very happy with the service I got from them on the Fabia although in retrospect I think a custom map was a bit overkill as it wasn't accompanied by any other mods such as a filter etc - I just wanted some more power as the standard 130 felt a bit weedy after a few months.

Thanks in advance,

Chris.
