MK4 Golf Recaro Seats

Featured Replies

Having had the MK4 Golf GTI seats in my mk1 Skoda Octavia for a little over 1 year I fancied trying out some Recaro seats but they had alot to live upto as the GTI seats were fantastic. A 3door set came up quite local to me and the guy had just upgraded his Golf to S3 Leather Recaro seats so the deal was done.

As per the fitting I fitted them in the same way as I fitted the Mk4 Golf GTI seats (MK4 Golf GTI Seats - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forums without the need to carry out extra wiring as these used the same plug as the GTI seats and the whole interior was swapped within a matter of 10mins. The rear seat came with x3 3point seat belts however the fixing for the centre belt is different to the Octavia and I will have to purchase this.

First impressions were WOW I can't believe how firm and comfy these seats are however when adjusting the drivers seat I noticed I couldn't get the seat as low as the GTI Seats :( and the base isn't as long as the GTI seats either. The side and base boulsters come much further round than the GTI seats, they always make me smile when I get in them.

Anyway, after my test drive I've found that I'm just as comfy sitting a little higher (the foam base is 1" higher than the GTI seats). During the drive I found the Recaro seats to be a little more firm than the GTI seats and more supportive although they have lost the armchair snugness that the GTI seats gave. They also have the lumbar support which although not needed for me is a nice thing to have should I need it as I get older.

Although these came from a 3 door they fit just as well as the 5 door GTI seats and being a 3door seat means you can flip the seat forward making it GREAT for cleaning and getting the kids shoes on and off without them kicking the back of the front seats and making them dirty.

It's probably worth noting, the guy I bought these from asked me a few days later if he could have them back as the S3 Leather Recaros weren't as comfy or supportive, needless to say I kept them :)

Another  for these seats, they are quite different to the GTI seats, these feel more hardcore and both sets have their merits and I can't recommend either set highly enough.

Did these seats live upto my expectations, Yes although they are not what I was expecting and quite different to the GTI seats.

If you want something a little more hardcore than the GTi I seats or the vRS seats then these are the perfect seats for you.
