Is it just my skoda.....

Featured Replies

I have owned my 55 plate Octavia 1.9 tdi pd elegance for 16 months, it had done 9500 miles when i bought it, since then i have had numerous problems, let me begin:-

faulty drivers side rear passenger speaker.

New door seals in front to cure rattling noise.

More rattling noises this time found behind sun glasses holder in roof.

Oil leak from turbo oil seals/hoses

Two weeks later the car is now out of warranty, go on holiday turbo blows up and oil blown out of exhaust the car has just done 14000 miles. Car low loaded 250 miles. Dealer tells me it needs new intercooler/turbo/complete exhaust. cost £2600 inc labour after much argy bargy skoda pay £2400.

Rear center seat belt breaks.

Interior alarm faulty.

Criuse control intermittently faulty.

Airbag warning light illuminated numerous times.

Stereo that forgets were it is.

Car alarm that sometimes just goes off when i unlock the doors.

More rattles still to be located.

The faults above have been sorted bar one or two now.

I do like the car its very comfortable and i fit in (6ft6in 17stone)it drives nice i just want to know if anybody has had this much hassle and if they have would they stick with skoda again (like the new superb lots!).

Sorry to hear about your probs makes mine look like nowt.

vw seems to have better quality control so i would be heading there if you like vag stuff, or you can pick up a nice bmw or merc s/ hand built like tiger tanks which i like.

good luck.

 blimey sorry to hear about your faults listed.I don,t have any all bar one which i think is a DMF prob which i will get done before warranty expires in NOV.

Stick with the car because VW,s IMHO are very bland and Skoda are more refined than them i think.

Monday morning car?

I've had my 07 vRS for 20 months and I've done 17k miles and I've had (touch wood) nothing go wrong at all.

I have owned my 2005 (55 plate) 2.0 TDi elegance estate since it was 9 months old with 14K on the clock. The car has now covered 69,000 miles and has only had the following 2 faults.

May 2008 at 56K miles, Replaced fuel temp sensor to clear emissions warning.

The other one is the cruise control issue, common to all mk2 octys. I have repaired that myself recently using a guide from this forum and it now works perfectly again with a total cost to fix of zero.

thanks for the info on the cruise control and replies, fixed the rear center seat belt this morning bit of a fiddly job (part cost £88 +vat) mot next week, fingers crossed.

At least Skoda paid out the bulk on the Turbo  Looking at your mileage (14000 in 3 years, 4500 miles in 16 months) i am not sure that a deisal engine is your best option though.
