Follow up story re/rust under doors,after inspection by skoda the results was as follows.the rust under both front doors are comparable with other models same as yours.

The warranty manager went on to say,if theres any attempt to repair it by me you WILL loose your warranty.

I checked a new octy in the show room it also had under door defects albeit a lot less than mine.

Conclusion,skoda is a good car, but could be as good as it cousins if only they would address common defects at the factory im sure it would't cost much.Also the garage stated if your not happy take the matter up with skoda direct and not them.

Was that a skoda dealer or somebody from skoda UK?

If the first then I'd be tempted to take some pictures and mail skoda UK asking for their opinion and not mentioning the dealer incident to them until they have given you a reply.

It was a man from skoda took pictures went away and reported the findings to the skoda garage,then a man with a chip on his shoulder bigger than a r.s.j rung me.

Well my falling out with Skoda UK was over paintwork. Skoda sent some guy to inspect the issue then said it was nothing to do with them and goodnight. My dealer even asked Skoda if i could meet their expert so he could explain how he thought it wasn't a defect but they refused.

I did read a report in Autoexpress magazine (where they do a mini review of used cars) and they said look out for known paint problems on the Octy 2.

Could you take a picture and post one on here, we have several dealers as members who could look at it.
