Hill Hold control /ESP for 7 Speed DSG's

Featured Replies

With the new 7 speed DSG, I believe that the Hill Hold Control/ Hill Start comes as standard regardless of trim level or even country supplied - this may also apply to ESP.

On the UK's new Octavia in S, SE & Elegance trim both of these items are standard fit for the 7 speed DSG's whereas on the manual equivalents, ESP is a factory fitted option and Hill Start Control is not even listed.

Can anyone either confirm this and if not what are your thoughts?

On my new Golf I've ordered I get the 7spd DSG which comes with ESP and Hill-Hold as standard.

Certainly on the Golf ESP seems to be standard and if you buy a manual you can specify Hill-Hold for about £70.

Think this is also true for the new Superb with Hill-Hold an option on manual cars.

Guess the answer would be confirmed if there are any 7 speed DSG's out there without Hill Hold Control and ESP ?

I've got hill hold but mine is with the older 6 speed wet DSG box. very nice in traffic and works perfectly, only downside is it can be a bit jerky, especially when trying to get away quickly

Do you have ESP also and if so was it standard?

Checking the Skoda UK's website configurator reveals the following with the new Octavia.

All of the 7 speed petrol 1.4 TSI DSG's, regardless of grade, come with standard fit ESP & Hill Hold Control. The only 1.8 TSI DSG available in the UK is the L & K which also has both as standard.

The VRS 2.0 FSI DSG has ESP as standard but no HHC option is mentioned - is this a 6 speed or 7 speed DSG?

As for the diesel DSG's, which I think are all 6 speed versions, the only one to have ESP & HHC standard is the L & K 2.0 TDI PD 140.

Messy but it certainly looks as though all of the 7 Speed TSI's come with standard ESP & HHC probably regardless of country supplied. Are the ESP & HHC integrated parts of the 7 speeder - ie. it is impossible to have it without either of those functions ?

I do have ESP and i believe both hill hold and ESP are standard but my car is a Passat :P

VW appear to fit standard ESP as normal whereas with Skoda it's a bit more hit or miss/optional.

The new Golf TSI's have standard ESP with HHC on the DSG's.
