Radiator fan - replacing the plastic impeller?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2006 Octy VRS mk 2.

Part of the outer rim of the plastic impeller from the (larger) near-side radiator fan has broken off. I think this is as a result of the garage not replacing part of the air intake correctly, which fell in and cause the damage. It vibrates like a washing machine when it spins due to the unbalanced weight!

Anyway, I phoned the local skoda parts depot today and you can't buy just the plastic fan - you need to replace the whole unit @ £177 !!! Seems a shame to waste the money seeing as the fan is fine except for the impeller.

So, has anybody tried successfully to replace the plastic impeller, and also where did you source the part?

Thanks for any advice.

The assembly is only available as a complete unit, the fan is not available separatly.

Would you not get the whole unit from a breakers?
