Thanks,

I will, the difference is seriously noticeable, Less mpg but much more fun! To hell with it!

The Sport was good but now I have driven both and also New Mondeos, Focus, Astras, Peugeots 307s, 308s and 407s through work this is the best all round package I have encountered by miles!

Your car looks great by the way! Mine was black and a bugger to keep clean. I hope the race blue is easier to keep on top of. Is there any problems I should look out for other than the DPF which I have heard about. This hopefully wont come into play with the long commutes to work on the motorway.

Thanks for the nice comment :)

I had a race blue Octavia TFSi VRS, and I found it relatively easy to keep clean

Didnt you fancy chipping your Sport, it would have given you the same 170bhp?

Or, did you just fancy becoming a VRS badge snob

Anyway, like you said, apart from the DPF which you mentioned, I cant recall any major problems with the TDi VRS, but Im sure an owner of said car will be along shortly to answer better.

Enjoy the new purchase, and be careful with that extra power :D

Damian

Wife and I didnt like the seats in the Sport, didnt find them comfy at all. Liked the wolf in sheeps clothing thing but the suspension when you drove into a pothole, almost impossible to avoid nowadays we found was really quite bad. The other thing we didnt like was the bunny kick from the rear when you drove over too big a bump. Didnt think about chipping but we did try to get cruise fitted by the local dealer, Ingrams Ayr. They couldnt actually give us a price as they claimed they wouldnt know which parts were needed till they added the stalk to see if it worked, something to do with a head unit??? So the estimated cost was anything in the region of £62 to around £300. We are planning to do some trips to France so Cruise was on the list of must haves. Fuel economy on our Sport was FANTASTIC, most always 55/60 mpg according to the average mpg but just felt it always lacked something. Ended up with a cracking deal on a 10000 miler VRS with Jumbo Box and we got the cruise fitted for £65 quid, no labour. Nokia built in hands free kit came with the car, works through the speakers and auto attaches with the phones. Also a years tax, only an extra £50 quid on insurance and first service parts cost only, no labour costs. An extra £25 on the years road tax and Two and a half years warranty with Extremes, Nightbreakers and Blue sides and Silver Vision indicators fitted and aligned by the Garage no cost. Got them to refurb minor kerbing on the 18" Zeniths too! Cracking pair of Michelin Pilot Sports on them so hopefully if I behave myself they should last for a wee while:) Return to Edinburgh got me 50.2 out and 51 back. Well pleased with that, driving like a vicar but not always.;)No snobbery involved on my part, the only snobs are the ones in silly unreliable cars putting up with rubbish but it is changing. The smirks are wiped off their faces when they see the car they have turns out to be a lemon and is costing them a fortune. I used to be one. Two mates lined up to buy the Sport in an instant so I wont hear anything against them! The Sport was our first taster of the Skoda brand. It cost us £200 in 11 months. Mot and a service. Really happy with the VRS so wont be doing anything silly in it, just enjoying the drive. Let the maniacs do their muppet racing thing and let them get on with. Life is too short for all that garbage! We changed mainly as it was a VAT Free deal, younger car, warranty and breakdown cover, better overtaking performance, better toys like dual climate and leather and mainly the comfort thing. Other car needing a new set of boots all round, road tax and probably brakes and exhaust soon so we decided to jump while we had the chance! Economy measure! What the heck do you put on your Sport to make it look so good? HD Wax or something along those lines?:confused:Thinking about getting the auto dimming rear view mirrow, anyone got any dealings with those and opinions as to their worth?

Ruddy Hell!...Sounds like you got a fantastic deal out of that garage

Nice to hear your high praise of the Sport model, some people cant see past the VRS badge

And as for mine, just regular cleaning with good quality products, nothing special ;)

Best of luck with the new beast then, and remember, when your used to that extra power, get it chipped...Should see the best part of 200bhp and a shed load of torque :D

Take it steady

Damian
