Stream radio connector, take a look

Featured Replies

Hey

I have an Octavia with a dealer installed blaupunkt. I would like to install a stream skoda radio, but the car connector seem to have no CAN bus . The car connector has speaker and power connectors only (see image).

Does anyone know if a stream radio will work, when connected to power and speakers only?

Do I have to buy some CAN-bus 'expensive' adaptor??

Cheers

You've got the connector, but not the multichanger connector.

Should your car have one?

My car has an adapter to my current (cheap) DIN radio, the adapter is plugged into the skoda connector on the image.

I'm note sure what a multichanger? is :drunk: If I do not know what it is, I probably I do not need it...

So you think a stream radio will work, when connected to the skoda connector on the image?

Looking at that connector and a diagram of the stream connections, you have all the required pins including the canbus ones. The stream will go straight in with no problem, but depending on the dash surround fitted you may need a new one.

What spec level have you got?

yep the can bus wires are in there.

Thanks

All these connectors confused me :magnify: and I just wanted to be sure a stream would fit. (where are the good old days, where you just needed 12V+/-)

I asked because my local 'stealer' told me (without looking at the car) that I would need a VAG/CAN box and that a stream system would cost £500 :zombie:.

Oh and the octy is a 2006 Ambiente model, but here in Denmark a stream radio is additional 500, so most byers choose a cheap DIN blaupunkt.

I guess you have an Octavia classic model without the 6 disc CD changer. The stream radio isn't all that exciting, but you could get one off of ebay for a lot less than £500.

if you want something a little different, consider getting a audience headunit. They seem to have better amplifiers, and have a built in six disc changer that can play MP3 files from any of the six discs.
