skoda felicia running problem its been a nightmare

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a skoda felicia pick up which has been a nightmare, i'll start my long story now.

I was using it up untill november last year when it started to missfire so i parked it up as i had another vehicle to use, at the begining of march i decided to tax it thinking a fuel filter change wold fix the problem, there was water in the old one so i thought that would fix it, it didn't, so i cleaned the tank out and the filter bit on the bottom of the tank gauge sender unit, there was muck in it but still i had the problem and at this stage the injectors started to rattle, the fuel system was fully bled, then we changed the injectors (i forgot to mention earlier we have a truck the same for spares) rattling got worse then we had the injectors tested all were fine, so then we changed the injector pump after much hassle swapping the pump immobilser over it started up, still had the problem, at this stage it would tick over fine but not rev out we tried pump adjustment but that didn't solve the problem then my dad mentioned the cat could have blocked, we have had this happen twice before on other vehicles i disconected the exhaust on the manifold and it reved out lovely then we put the exhaust system from the other van on it, took it up the road it was ok untill we hit a hill or tried to go faster the injectors start knocking and it smokes while they knock, all though it has started fine better than it ever has but what more can we try i wonder whether the exhaust system we have on it now is partially blocked ive spent about 2 weeks on and off now on it and ive nearly had enough, if it wasn't so cheap to run id have scrapped it but i cant give up now so can someone please help, sorry ive wrote so much but i had to put what i have tried thanks luke

Petrol or diesel?

i'm guessing diesel, cos it sounds similar to my problems too. jeez i hope one of us sorts this out some day....

you sure the head gasket isn't bust?

also it's not uncommon for the pre-combustion chambers to get clogged up with filth

Hi diesel

Take it to a Bosch or TurnerTune place, and ask them to check the injectors and the HP fuel pump. I'm fairly sure the problem is in there someplace.
