machine polishing... advice on products

Featured Replies

Hiya everyone,

Firstly just so you all know, i was advised to purchase the Menzerna Kit as far as the Kestrel DA6 polisher is concerned by Tim at clean your car (so i hope you guru's will agree with him on that)...

Kestrel Dual Action Polisher - Menzerna Kit

I am about to put a 'pre-order' in for the above, along with some dodo juice Lime Prime, do you recommend any other pads, or other items (oh yeah some 3m tape would be a good idea i guess).

Cheers, oh and i'm a Black magic owner

Don't think you will go far wrong with that Kestrel kit - and Tim certainly knows his stuff.

Menz products seem to have the best reputation on VAG paint which is considered quite hard.

Not sure about the Lime Prime - at what point do you intend using it. I would have thought wash, clay, polish and wax are the obvious steps - where does it fit in to that?

I'm also unconvinced by the 3M blue tape - I just use some regular masking tape which is cheaper. I can understand professional detailers wanting something that shows up easily (the blue plasters for chefs theory) but not convinced personally.

I'm order some Menz stuff soon :) It's well recommended!

Yep! Menz are fine for Skoda paints with Meguiars pads.

I use PO85RD3.02 for medium swirls than followed by 106FA....

My LSP is Megs NXT Tech Wax... ;)

3M tape is a must IMHO and if your doing this work regularly then other tape just doesn't compare.............

Dodo Juice Lime Prime can be used in the future to refine your polished finish but I always use Lime Prime before I apply the LSP............:D

Have you bought an LSP mate? Also have you got some clay?
