CV boot clips

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if I need a special tool to put the clips on a new CV joint on my Felicia. I have the type of clips supplied with a Quinton Hazel boot kit, that is the type that simply have an overlap with four or five holes and there are a couple of raised lugs in the lower part (inside) of the clip. There is a small raised section on the clip that looks like it needs some sort of crip tool to compress it or something. I don't understand how I can make sure they are tight around the CV joint and the axle/ Any explanations would be very much appreciated as it's now holding up my progress and I got the other side to do when I have this one finished.

Thanks.

Sorry mate, not familiar with that kind - all the CV boot kits I've ever bought came with a couple of big nylon 'Tie-Wrap' locking straps, which certainly don't require a tool (except a wire cutter or Stanley knife to trim off the excess once you've tightened it). If you're stuck I suggest you just ask your local motor factor for a couple of those - they'll probably have them and charge a notional 50p or something for them.
