Desktop Publisher

Featured Replies

Hello all

Need some suggestions on a Desktop publisher. Have used Microsoft Publisher for a long long time, and have the Office 2000 version. Have downloaded the trial of the new ofice 2007 version and it really isn't worth spending that much money on something that is no better. Anyone got any suggestions on other programmes? Quark would be nice, but very expensive.

Cheers, Kev

Serif PagePlus is good. I've used it up until version X2 then moved to Adobe. It's pretty cheap too.

Kev,

I have been working with these for a while now - It's probably best that you check out this link below:

What is Desktop Publishing Software? Who are the Main Publishers of DTP Software?

There is a vast list - It's more down to what you as a user want from it not what I can suggest. I presume your a Windows user and not a Mac user?

Would you have an idea on cost? I mean I can suggest loads as seen below but a figure would help me alot.

Adobe InDesign CS4: US $699.00

https://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/store/index.cfm?store=OLS-US&view=ols_prod&loc=EN_US&category=/Applications/InDesign&PID=3122396#store=OLS-US&category=/Applications/InDesign&view=ols_prod&loc=en_us

Quark: US $699.99

Quark Software - QUARKXPRESS 8 MAC OS/WIN 1U - 124321

Adobe PageMaker 7 isn't on par with the above two so I would give that a miss - Hence the price.

Please do also take a look into:

Serif PagePlus X3: At just £79.99 it's brilliant for both a novice and for professional use.

The link is here - Serif PagePlus X3 Publisher Professional there is even a nice movie for you to watch.

I hope this helps. If you do have one in mind please do get back to me and I maybe able to get you a few £'s off.

Hope this helps,

Rob

We've just purchased Serif PagePlus at work, and it seems really good....as well as letting you edit PDF files as well, which can come in quite handy.

another vote for PagePlus, cracking value.
