Hi..advice on octy vrs or golf 4motion..?

Featured Replies

Hi, just joined the site..Im actively looking for either an Octavia VRS or Golf 4motion..however wife has a golf so am drawn to the octavia. Driven a 4motion before but it was a bit of a pig n not well looked after so trying to find 2 good ones to compare. I know the 4motion is quicker on paper but does anyone have any experience of directly comparing the two ? Had a golf 150 bhp V5 before which sounded nice but not fast enough..Anything to look out for when buying an Octy VRS..? Thanks in advance for any replies..:)

cheers !! never thought Id be looking for a skoda..but like most people fell in love with the vrs..just need to test one..n only heard real good things about them..

welcome along

Hello mate and welcome to the site. So, which 4motion are you after. Diesel, petrol. And which Octavia are you after. Petrol vRS of diesel vRS. Pretty sure both engine versions of the Golf are significantly down on power compared to both Octy versions. (unless your talking about the V6 one, which is just over 200bhp) I'm sure the golf is a well put together car, but my opinion is for the type of car it is it is horedously bland compared to a vRS, and I think you'll be paying for a 4 wheel drive system that you dont really need. (unless you live somewhere where its icy and snowy all the time)

But as ever, try them both and see what you think.

Hi everyone..cheers..fitz Im after a mk iv 4motion or mk 1 octavia vrs..have a budget of £3k (ish) which I know is stretching it a bit for a decent one but I dont mind high milers provided theyve been looked after..seems to be a big difference in quality for the sake of just a few hundred quid so Im prepared to go a bit higher..but her indoors keeps a beady eye on finances..think I'm gonna go for the vrs..not owned one before and I feel strangely drawn to them now !!
