Felicia advice

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm proud owner of 2007 Octy 1.9Tdi Elegance and we are looking for a cheap second hand runabout, we'd like a Felicia 1.3 either hatch or estate, we've got £350-400 to spend, do you guys think we'll get a good 'un for that and can anyone tell me the cambelt interval for the 1.3.

Cheers all

1.3 has a chain so they dont specify a change interval, but they do get noisy with age... you should be able to pick up a good one for under £400 i'd say

I'd say go for the 1.3mpi if you can get one in your budget. The estate is a particularly good load lugger. The rear seats are easily removable (rather than simply folding forward).

Watch out for rotting rear wheel arches and tailgates. Also have a look at the suspension struts (the bits which hold the coil spring) for excessive rust (see pinned post at top of forum). Can't really think of anything else out of the ordinary to look for (other than usual second hand car stuff, headgasket, clutch) that can't be sorted relatively cheaply.

As for the chain mines done well over 120k miles and is 15 years old now (same 1.3 engine). It's a bit noisy and I hope to be able to DIY the chain at some point in the future but other than the noise doesn't seem to be causing any issues.

You might be able to get the 1.6 too

I had one, got 42mpg out of her.

You'll easily be able to find a goodun for your budget I reckon, but you'll need to keep an eye out.

They rust on the wheel arches and tailgate but if thats kept in check then you're fine.

Some get treated well and others get abused. But keep your eye out and you'll find the bargain for you.

Any more advice you know where we are ;)
