Squeezing a bit more from a 1.9D felicia

Featured Replies

Hello boys and girls!

I know its an older car, and as such I doubt there are too many bits and bobs still floating around, but I was just curious as to what I could do on a modest budget to add a few more ponies to the old girl

(It's scary to overtake at night and not know if you can make the move before you hit the next corner! :o )

I assume that the standard advice would be a service, oil change and clean air filter? That's all due this next week coming anyway, and hopefully the gearbox is coming off too to sort that out (I keep killing them off :rotz: ) so that will most likely have clean oil as well.

p.s. double brownie points to anyone who can prove (as I suspect) that those "+10Bhp!!!!!!!!!!!1one" tuning chips off of ebay are lies - a mate is convinced they will net me another million bhp and about 2345934583 lb/ft more torque  I remain dubious!! :D

So yeah, if any of you can think of an easy way to add a little bit more poke, it would be greatly appreciated!! :)

As if I wasn't opinionated about the eBay "tuning" boxes, one's just blown the cap off my intercooler.

By the way, assuming you mean a normally aspirated diesel?

Ouuuch, thats no fun :thumbdwn:

Yes, its normally aspirated. :shiner: Am I right in my thinking this means lower performance gains for simple things?

The ebay boxes often work a bit, but are just a resistor that frigs the fuelling a bit. A decen box (Dragon etc) or a remap is better.

You'll struggle for much gain on a NA diesel. Increasing the fuelling will just give smoke.

I'm sure there is at least one floating around with a turbo fitted to it. No idea what's involved, but I guess it wouldn't be easy.

as far as the aef diesel lump is concerned, it does what it does, doesn't make too much fuss, and it does it slowly... enjoy!! dont bother with ebay rubbish it wont do anything on that other than bust your glow plug relay controller

Thanks for the opinions, gents

I had suspected as much but I thought it would be good just to double check :insane:
