Sealant/Wax is there a difference?

Featured Replies

I thought i was doing well building up 3 coats of Collinite 476 on my car over the last couple of months. But when i read the detailing posts i read about sealants, how do they differ to wax such as the 476. Im stocking up on kit and i look at the Poorboys EX, to apply this would i have to strip off my layers of 476, or do i even need a sealant. Im a touch confused.

Sealants offer no protection as far as I know, this is were wax comes in.

I stand corrected!

they are both LSP's (last stage products) and both offer protection.

the idea is one is man made "Sealant" and one is natural products "Wax". generally they're all a mixture afaik. sealants will mostly always go under wax due to the bonding process.

people say one looks better than the other its all down to personal opinion, and ime the prep work before LSP is the key to the best finish not expensive wax.
