Hi all

Picking up my Superb elegance 1.9 TDI 06 plate next week (only has 20k on the clock) and have a few questions.

I currently have a Omega and I am very sad to see her go to be honest but the Superb seemed to be the obvious replacement.

1) Is the standard stereo any good? The Omega Bose one is great but lacked functionality.

2) Drive quality, Omega sticks well to corners, for a big car but is twitchy in rain and ice and also slow to react. Whats the Superb like?

3)Comfort. I drove from Lancaster to Cornwall last summer without stopping and wasn`t too tired on arrival , did it the year before in a Vectra and had to stop every 2 hours. Whats the superb drive like?

4) Am I in for a lot of stick for owning a Skoda?

Also any tips would be good and especially from any ex Omega converts.

I like you have had Omega's before and I loved owning them, the Superb is so different and so alike it's hard to say which one is a better car.

1 - Yes, it's not thud thud thud ice, but it plays everything including home made cd's

2 - You have to get used to it, it's more wallowy in corners than an Omega was but you soon adjust.

3 - I did a 7 hour 300 mile day in mine yesterday and should've been out cold after 4 hrs as I'd not slept the night before, it was still an hour after arriving home before I had to go to bed, it's one thing I find great about the car, it's so floaty you don't get thrown in the air on the UK's poor roads.

4 - Yes you will, the uneducated will think they have you by the balls, right up until you take them out in it for a ride and watch the I like this I like that routine, night time is best, I find most ppl get a real hard on over the courtesy lights in the door handles.

Enjoy her mate, nothing else would've compared to the Omega unless you had 20k+ to spend on a second hand car.

A mate of mine had a fully loaded 3ltr omega. What a car! Good value for many too. The Skoda is in the same league. Yes the badge/brand puts people off however once they actually experience one for themselves, they cant fault it. I proved a lot of friends and family wrong when i got a seat leon cupra. Started proving the same with the skoda. Planning to debag though as the badges have faded (poor design) however searching for the best method.

You will love it.....I still miss mine over a year on from selling it

Badges don`t worry me, everyone thinks the Omega was an old mans car but I`ve still not bought any werthers originals Or put a box of tissues on the rear shelf!

I have just got rid of my Omega 2.5 and replaced it with a Superb Elegence 1.9 TDi 130. The Skoda will knock spots off the Omega in every way.

And yes....everyone will take the **** out of you having a Skoda badge, but so what?
